In August 2026, Frankfurt Airport experienced a 2.9% year-on-year growth in cargo volumes, reaching 179,400 metric tonnes, indicating strong demand for air cargo services. However, passenger traffic remained stable, with aircraft movements decreasing by 4.6% to 40,968. The total maximum takeoff weights fell by 1.6% compared to August 2025. Recently, Felix Toepsch was appointed Vice President of Cargo Development at Fraport AG, tasked with enhancing the airport's cargo operations. Fraport AG is a prominent airport operator with over 95 years of experience in the industry.
