Lufthansa Cargo is set to purchase LUG aircargo handling.

Lufthansa Cargo has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of LUG aircargo handling GmbH, a German air cargo handler, to enhance its capacity and flexibility in the domestic market. Signed on September 7, 2026, the deal awaits regulatory approvals but will allow LUG to operate independently with its current structures intact. This acquisition aligns with Lufthansa Cargo’s growth strategy, aimed at bolstering its infrastructure and competitiveness amid modernization efforts costing around €600 million. LUG, with over 60 years in the industry, has 400 employees and significant warehouse space, and is expected to thrive under Lufthansa Cargo's ownership.
