Bengaluru surpasses Mumbai in domestic cargo traffic.

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has surpassed Mumbai to become India’s second-largest domestic cargo hub, handling 19,268 tonnes in July 2026, compared to Mumbai's 18,311 tonnes. This growth, driven by a 9.8% increase in cargo volumes, contrasts with an 8.2% decline in Mumbai. BLR Cargo also reported a 15% year-on-year growth in total cargo for Q1 FY2026-27, supported by export demand and expanded capacity. Notably, the airport remains a leader in perishable exports and has strengthened its infrastructure to accommodate rising cargo volumes, reflecting its growing significance in India's logistics sector.
