Papua New Guinea (PNG) sees around 1,053 new cervical cancer cases annually, resulting in approximately 650 deaths, making it one of the highest in the Pacific region. In response, PNG has commenced a national HPV vaccination program following the arrival of 100,000 vaccine vials, with 180,000 more expected. The initiative, supported by UNICEF, Gavi, and the WHO, aims to immunize 60,000 girls aged 9 to 14 in its first phase starting September 2026. The program underscores the importance of a robust cold-chain logistics system to ensure vaccine integrity from international transport to local distribution.
