The U.S. Justice Department has settled with Singapore-based companies Grace Ocean and Synergy Marine for $101.98 million following the March 26 crash of the cargo ship Dali into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, which resulted in six fatalities. The settlement addresses civil damages totaling $103 million under various laws, with funds directed to the U.S. Treasury and affected federal agencies. While the companies agreed to the settlement, they deny liability and assert that it pertains only to clearing costs. Maryland has also filed a lawsuit against the companies for bridge reconstruction costs.
