Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) is set to commence its first international dedicated freighter operation on August 1, with IndiGo CarGo's flight departing for Sharjah. This operation follows NMI's initial international cargo movement on July 15, when fruits and vegetables were sent to Abu Dhabi. As Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) prepares for a temporary suspension of freighter services for infrastructure upgrades, NMI is emerging as an alternative base. Airlines like Cathay Cargo and Hong Kong Air Cargo are planning operations at NMI, enhancing its cargo connectivity and infrastructure for international shipments.
