The Port of Bilbao has enhanced border controls for non-EU travelers with the implementation of a new digital system, excluding Cyprus and Ireland. This initiative, developed by the Port Authority, National Police, and Brittany Ferries, automates entry procedures through the Entry/Exit System (EES), which records biographical and biometric data while eliminating manual passport stamping. The system aims to modernize border management, improve security, and efficiently track individuals entering and leaving the Schengen Area, addressing issues like overstaying and misuse of visas.
