In June, dockworkers at the Port of Los Angeles set a record by moving 1,002,734 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), marking the busiest June in the port's history and the third time monthly cargo volume exceeded 1 million units. This reflects a 12% increase from the previous year, driven by strong import demand amid changing trade policies and global supply chain challenges. Executive Director Gene Seroka emphasized the achievements despite avoiding vessel backlogs, crediting the professionalism of the workforce. The port's imports and exports also showed significant activity, with a total of 5,122,603 TEUs handled in the first half of the year.
