Rocky Mountain Steel Mills has officially begun operations at its new $1.2 billion long rail mill in Pueblo, Colorado, with Union Pacific Railroad receiving the first rail produced. Union Pacific's CEO Jim Vena, during a visit to the mill, emphasized their commitment to sourcing steel rails from Rocky Mountain Steel, which has a longstanding partnership dating back to 1882. The new mill enhances efficiency by producing longer rails with fewer welds, while also being the largest solar-powered steel mill globally, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions.
