Xeneta's Air Freight Outlook 2026 Mid-Year Update revises the 2026 forecast, citing the ongoing Middle East conflict's impact on air freight rates, demand, and supply. Initially expected to decline, long-term shipper rates are now projected to rise by 5% to 15%. Demand growth may reach 4%, while capacity growth is lowered to 2%-3%. The conflict caused a 12% drop in global air cargo capacity, pushing rates up 17% year-on-year. While AI-related freight demand is surging, e-commerce demand is decreasing, highlighting potential vulnerabilities in the air freight market.
