Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has launched its international cargo operations, marking its inaugural shipment of 1,789 kg of fruits and vegetables to Abu Dhabi via Air India Express flight IX207. This operation utilizes the belly-hold capacity of a passenger flight, with the service running twice weekly. NMIA aims to enhance its role in India's international air cargo network, especially as Cathay Cargo plans to relocate freighter operations from Mumbai to NMIA. The airport is positioned to become a significant cargo gateway for western India, promoting exports of perishables and high-value commodities.
