Glasgow Prestwick experiences its seventh consecutive year of profitability driven by an increase in cargo.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) has achieved its seventh year of profitability, with an 11% increase in operating profit to GBP 3.9 million for the year ending March 31, 2026. This growth is attributed to a significant rise in freight volumes, which quadrupled as PIK enhanced its cargo services, including 15 weekly freighter flights to mainland China. CEO Jules Matteoni highlighted the airport's strategy to establish itself as a leading cargo gateway, supported by investments in infrastructure and cold storage. The airport has also created over 250 jobs and was recognized as Air Freight Business of the Year at the Logistics UK Awards. Further growth is anticipated through increased freighter capacity and e-commerce handling.
