Several circular economy projects at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges have secured essential permits, advancing the port's goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Synpet is investing €300 million to build a recycling plant aimed at processing 250,000 tonnes of mixed plastic waste annually, with construction permits granted in June 2026. Meanwhile, TripleW has received approval for Europe's first industrial-scale lactic acid plant, expected to be operational by 2029, while Bolder Industries is set to construct a facility for recycling discarded car tires, creating numerous local jobs.
