Cathay Cargo is the first international airline to announce the relocation of its freighter operations from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Navi Mumbai International Airport, effective August 3. This temporary move aims to ensure uninterrupted cargo services during construction at the primary airport. Despite the relocation, Cathay Cargo’s tri-weekly service will continue as planned. The shift follows previous announcements of a suspension of freighter operations at CSMIA, drawing criticism from industry bodies and concerns from the U.S. Department of Transportation regarding the implications of the relocation. Other airlines are also considering similar moves.
