In June, global air cargo demand increased by 9% year-on-year, with stable tonnages compared to May, despite a slight week-on-week decline. First-half chargeable weight rose by 5%, and second-quarter volumes were up by 6%. Major regions like the Middle East and Asia Pacific led growth, while air cargo rates remained significantly higher than last year, averaging 33% more in June. Despite geopolitical tensions, jet fuel prices dropped, prompting airlines to lower fuel surcharges. However, shipments from Asia Pacific to Europe saw declines in anticipation of new EU customs rules.
