BETA Technologies and Surf Air Mobility have initiated an electric aircraft demonstration program in Hawaii, supported by Hawaiian Airlines, to assess the viability of electric aviation for cargo and passenger services. This six-to-eight-week trial at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport will utilize BETA’s ALIA CTOL aircraft to gather data on operational and economic aspects essential for commercial deployment. The study aims to evaluate electric aircraft's efficiency in Hawaii’s short-haul routes, focusing on performance, cost, maintenance, and infrastructure needs to advance electric aviation in the region.
