The Cathay Group reported significant growth in May 2026, with a 14% increase in passenger numbers, totaling over 3.3 million, compared to May 2025. Cathay Cargo also saw an 11% rise in cargo volume, carrying over 150,000 tonnes. The airline plans to expand its global network, including new direct flights to Almaty and Wuxi. Cathay’s premium cabins maintained high demand, and the cargo business thrived, particularly on routes to Southeast Asia. The Group expects a deemed disposal gain of approximately HK$1.4 billion due to changes in equity interest in Air China.
