In the week ending June 7, 2026, global air cargo volumes and capacity showed recovery after a downturn caused by public holidays across various regions. Chargeable weight rose by 3%, primarily driven by significant increases in North America (16%) and the Middle East & South Asia (13%). However, global airfreight rates dipped by 1% due to easing aviation fuel prices. Year-over-year comparisons were complicated by the timing of holidays, with most regions experiencing growth, except for Africa and MESA, which saw declines. Overall, global airfreight rates remain 33% higher compared to last year.
