CSX and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) have received approval from the Surface Transportation Board to create a new rail interchange in Alabama, linking shippers in Mexico, Texas, and the Southeast U.S. CPKC will operate a segment of rail between Meridian, Mississippi, and Myrtlewood, Alabama, while CSX will manage nearly 94 miles of MNBR-operated lines east of Myrtlewood. This agreement, aimed at enhancing competition against other rail companies, is expected to boost intermodal service and reduce truck traffic by expanding rail transport across southern U.S. markets.
