A new hybrid vessel, El Escudo, has begun operations at the Port of Los Angeles as part of a partnership involving Harbor Breeze Cruises, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the Port of Long Beach. This 350-passenger craft features advanced emission-reduction technologies and aims to operate at least 30% of the time in zero-emission mode. The project, supported by a $31 million CARB grant, promotes cleaner maritime technologies to improve air quality. Harbor Breeze Cruises has invested $7.5 million in this initiative, with additional vessels in development.
