DHL Group has successfully piloted rail freight logistics in Formula 1 by transporting race equipment from Miami to Montreal during the 2026 season, aiming to lessen reliance on road and air transport. The shipment included 50 containers, with 68% shifted to rail, demonstrating that rail can meet the demanding race schedule while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. DHL's multimodal strategy also involves sustainable aviation fuel and biofuel-powered trucks, contributing to significant emission reductions. The pilot will inform potential wider rail use in North America for the 2027 season, contingent on operational assessments.
