The Port of Rotterdam Authority initiates a test with a 'supersector.'

Starting May 1, the Port of Rotterdam Authority will pilot a temporary merger of the Rozenburg and Maassluis sectors into a "supersector" during weekends and weekday nights until November 1, 2026. This initiative aims to address workload imbalances during low-traffic periods, allowing one Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) operator to efficiently manage a larger area. The goal is to maintain safety and operator alertness while ensuring that communication with the shipping industry remains consistent. An evaluation will follow to assess the pilot's effectiveness and potential future adaptations.
