Global air cargo markets have experienced a notable shift in demand patterns due to the conflict in the Middle East, as per WorldACD data. Initially, worldwide air cargo tonnage grew by 8% in January and February, but this trend reversed in March, resulting in a 3% decline for the period from January to mid-April. Only Central and South America and North America saw growth during March to mid-April, while the Middle East faced a 37% drop in volumes. South Asia and Africa also reported declines, indicating a broader slowdown in global air freight activity despite Asia Pacific maintaining a 7% year-to-date growth.
