FedEx and IITM's drone experiments have reduced mid-mile delivery times in Bengaluru.

FedEx and IIT Madras have successfully conducted India's first intra-city drone delivery trials in Bengaluru, creating a new urban logistics milestone. The trials established an aerial logistics corridor from Electronic City Phase II to near the airport, demonstrating that a 53-kilometre road journey can be reduced to a 39–42 kilometre aerial route, cutting transit time from over an hour to around 21 minutes. The initiative tested operations in complex airspace and highlighted the potential for drones to improve efficiency in time-sensitive logistics, with support from regulatory bodies and advanced safety systems.
