The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has allocated around $70 million from the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund (HMTF) for improvements at the Port of Los Angeles, which is part of a record $131.8 million for the San Pedro Bay port complex. Historically, donor ports like Los Angeles have contributed significantly to the HMTF but received less than 3% back for maintenance. Recent reforms aim to rectify this, ensuring fair funding distribution, with Congress approving $3.245 billion for Fiscal Year 2026, including $416.8 million for donor ports. This funding will support critical infrastructure and safety projects at the port.
