The American Train Dispatchers Association (ATDA) has reached a significant agreement with Union Pacific Railroad, ensuring lifelong job security for union employees amid the merger with Norfolk Southern, which will create the first single-line, coast-to-coast railroad in the U.S. ATDA President L. Ed Dowell expressed support for the merger, citing the commitment to job stability and union rights. This marks ATDA as the sixth national union to secure such an agreement, joining other unions like SMART-TD and NCFO. Union Pacific's CEO, Jim Vena, emphasized the merger's positive impact on employees and the industry.
