Maastricht Aachen Airport's new data reveals that flower shipments are processed more quickly than at other European airports, with an average handling time of three hours compared to 3.5 to 6.5 hours elsewhere. The airport's monitoring technology, implemented in 2025, recorded around 5,000 temperature measurements, showing that reduced exposure to heat enhances product quality. Additionally, 80% of shipments reach the Aalsmeer flower auction on the same day, minimizing transit time. This efficiency improves outcomes for retailers and consumers, solidifying the airport's position as a reliable logistics option for perishables.
