The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has launched DG Digital, a feature in its DG AutoCheck system that facilitates fully digital Dangerous Goods Declarations for air cargo, replacing traditional paper methods. This digital solution streamlines the declaration process for over 3,800 hazardous items, significantly reducing shipment rejections and enhancing safety. Successful trials in Japan showed a reduction in rejections from 4.5% to 0.5%. As demand for dangerous goods, especially lithium batteries, grows, DG Digital aims to improve efficiency and safety in air cargo logistics through standardized data exchange.
