Felixstowe has received two new Class 99 hybrid locomotives.

The Port of Felixstowe has become the first UK port to receive two new Class 99 hybrid locomotives, 99001 and 99002, operated by GB Railfreight. Their inaugural test call occurred on February 15, 2026. As the UK's largest intermodal hub, Felixstowe provides the most daily rail services and sustainable supply chain solutions. The Class 99 locomotives can operate on both electrified and non-electrified tracks, cutting emissions by over 50%. This development significantly enhances sustainable rail freight, promoting lower-carbon logistics in the UK and reinforcing Felixstowe's commitment to greener supply chains.
