General Motors (GM) will relocate production of the Buick Envision SUV from China to its Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City, Kansas, starting in 2028. This shift aims to strengthen GM's domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports, which are currently subject to high tariffs. The company has faced declining sales due to increased costs associated with these tariffs, prompting the decision to onshore production. GM plans to invest $4 billion in its U.S. plants to enhance capacity for both gas and electric vehicles, with expectations of a significant financial charge in 2025 for realigning its North American strategy.
