Changes at FedEx and UPS may lead to increased fees for large packages.

FedEx and UPS are implementing surcharge changes this month that could raise costs for shippers of larger packages. FedEx has introduced a cubic volume criterion for its dimensional handling surcharge, affecting packages over 10,368 cubic inches, while its oversize fee now includes both cubic volume and weight limits. UPS will also enforce similar fees starting next week. Experts warn that many shippers may be caught off guard by these changes, particularly those shipping lightweight but bulky items, leading to significantly increased shipping costs. To mitigate impacts, shippers can negotiate lower fees or adjust packaging sizes.
