Maastricht Aachen Airport experienced a significant increase in air freight volumes in 2025, handling 41,636 tonnes of cargo, a 40% rise from 2024. Cargo operations now constitute a major part of airport activity, with 1,737 cargo flights compared to 994 passenger flights out of 7,549 total aircraft movements. This growth follows a recovery after a runway renovation in 2023. The airport aims to become a regional cargo hub, targeting 200,000 tonnes annually by 2030, while also expecting a rebound in passenger traffic with Wizz Air’s expansion planned for 2026.
