Macy's plans to close its distribution center in South Windsor, Connecticut, later this year, affecting 57 employees with layoffs starting March 14. The shutdown includes the store delivery and customer returns operations, part of a broader effort to streamline its supply chain and achieve $235 million in cost savings. While severance and transfer opportunities will be offered to affected workers, Macy's has not disclosed the reasons for the closure. Additionally, the retailer intends to shut down a fulfillment center in Oklahoma this spring as part of its transformation initiatives.
