The Trump administration has clarified the extent of tariff refunds in anticipation of a ruling from the Supreme Court.

The Department of Justice has stated that if the Supreme Court rules the tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) illegal, refunds will be available for all such levies. The Court is currently reviewing challenges to President Trump's tariffs, including recent increases on imports from India and Brazil. The DOJ indicated that it would comply with the Supreme Court's ruling, applying it to all IEEPA tariffs, even those not directly involved in current cases. The administration does not plan to contest the ruling to avoid preliminary injunctions.
