Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has launched an Integrated Solid Waste Management Centre (ISWMC) to enhance its waste processing capabilities and support circular economy initiatives. The ISWMC aims to divert 97–98% of the airport's solid waste, reducing landfill disposal to just 2–3%. With a processing capacity of 77 tonnes per day, it will treat organic waste through bio-methanation, generating biogas for kitchens and compost for landscaping. The facility minimizes reliance on external waste handlers, lowers emissions, and contributes to the airport's sustainability goals, including achieving Level 5 accreditation for carbon management.
