BLR Airport opens a waste management facility on its premises.

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru has launched an Integrated Solid Waste Management Centre (ISWMC) to enhance its waste processing capabilities and support circular economy initiatives. The ISWMC aims to divert 97–98% of the airport's solid waste, reducing landfill disposal to just 2–3%. With a processing capacity of 77 tonnes per day, it will treat organic waste through bio-methanation, generating biogas for kitchens and compost for landscaping. The facility minimizes reliance on external waste handlers, lowers emissions, and contributes to the airport's sustainability goals, including achieving Level 5 accreditation for carbon management.
