ShoreTension is a revolutionary mooring system for large sea-going vessels, developed by the Dutch Royal Boatmen’s Association Eendracht, which is celebrating its fifteenth anniversary. The system emerged after a severe incident in 2007 where a container ship broke loose, highlighting the need for innovation in vessel mooring. ShoreTension uses a hydraulic mechanism to maintain constant tension on mooring lines, significantly enhancing safety and efficiency at ports. With around 350 units in operation across 27 countries, the system continues to evolve, with future plans to adapt it for vessels docking at sea.
