Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have reached tentative labor contracts for urban and rural mail carriers, pending ratification by CUPW members, during which no strikes or lockouts will occur. The five-year agreements include significant wage increases (6.5% in the first year, 3% in the second, and adjustments based on inflation thereafter) and enhanced benefits. Finalization of contract language is expected by January 16, after which the ratification vote will take place. CUPW's National Executive Board recommends approval of the agreements.
