Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai will temporarily suspend dedicated freighter operations from August 2026 to May 2027 due to necessary runway re-carpeting and the construction of a new taxiway. This will leave Apron “G,” the sole area for freighter operations, unavailable for the duration. The airport's management indicated that operations might shift to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), which is set to commence on December 25, 2026. This announcement follows earlier plans for upgrades and has faced criticism from the International Air Transport Association.
