FedEx reported a strong fiscal second quarter ending November 30, with consolidated net revenue of $23.5 billion, up 14% from the previous year. Operating income nearly doubled to $1.38 billion, driven by higher yields in domestic and international priority shipping and increased package volumes. Cost-saving measures also contributed to this growth. However, challenges included rising wage rates, increased transportation costs, and the impact of grounding its MD-11 aircraft. While the Federal Express division improved, FedEx Freight saw a decline due to lower shipment volumes and costs related to its pending spin-off.
