The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) will launch a bid solicitation process in early 2026, allowing shippers to access its last-mile delivery infrastructure. This initiative aims to enable both large and small shippers to utilize delivery destination units (DDUs) for faster service, with deliveries possible on the same or next day. The USPS, under Postmaster General David Steiner, seeks to broaden access to these units, which have traditionally been restricted to high-volume shippers. The agency plans to refine the bidding process based on feedback from interested parties to enhance service efficiency and revenue.
