UNFI enhances supply chain efficiency through lean management practices.

United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) has enhanced its supply chain by implementing a standardized lean operating model in 34 of its 49 distribution centers, aiming for improved profitability and efficiency. This approach, which began in December 2024, focuses on continuous process improvement and key operational metrics related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. As a result, UNFI experienced a 9% increase in throughput, a 3% boost in on-time delivery, and a 16% reduction in shrinkage. While still in the rollout phase, the company is optimistic about the long-term benefits of this model across its operations.
