The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has highlighted a slowdown in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production, urging immediate action before the implementation of e-SAF mandates in Europe and the UK. Despite projected growth to 1.9 million tonnes by 2025, SAF will only account for 0.6% of global jet fuel consumption. IATA's Director General, Willie Walsh, criticized poorly designed policies that inflate costs and hinder progress. He warned that current commitments to SAF usage may not be met due to inadequate supply and emphasized the need for better regulatory frameworks to support production and reduce costs.
