Trade groups from various industries, including retail and textiles, are pressing the Trump administration to quickly renew the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and seek specific enhancements. At a recent U.S. Trade Representative hearing, representatives highlighted the importance of maintaining duty-free trade and proposed revisions to the agreement, such as recognizing components from the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement for origin purposes. They also called for improved customs practices, enforcement against fraud, and integration with other free trade partners to enhance supply chain efficiency.
