J.M. Smucker has decided against a planned third price increase for coffee this fiscal year, opting to absorb $75 million in tariff-related costs instead. Despite previously raising prices due to tariffs on imported green coffee beans, demand has remained strong, with a projected 16% increase in coffee revenue for the fiscal year. Recent U.S. trade policy changes exempting green coffee from tariffs also influenced this decision. However, the unrecovered tariff costs are expected to impact earnings negatively, lowering earnings per share by $0.50 this year, though the company anticipates better conditions next year.
