The Budget presents a mix of modest support and significant concerns for the freight and international trade sectors. Positive aspects include the continuation of the 5p fuel duty cut until August 2026, business investment incentives, and the removal of the de minimis threshold, which benefits UK businesses competing against low-value imports. However, BIFA expresses concern over the planned reversal of the fuel-duty cut in 2026, which could raise operational costs, alongside broader tax increases that may depress consumer demand and impact trade volumes. BIFA is prepared to work with the Government to adapt to these changes.
