The U.S. Postal Service plans to implement shipping price increases on January 18, 2026, with average hikes of 7.8% for Ground Advantage, 6% for Parcel Select, 6.6% for Priority Mail, and 5.1% for Priority Mail Express. These approved increases aim to enhance competitiveness and generate necessary revenue amid ongoing financial losses, which totaled $9 billion in fiscal 2025. The Postal Service's strategy appears focused on attracting heavier, short-distance shipments, even as it experiences lower volume. Operating revenue did rise slightly by 1.2% year-over-year, driven by Ground Advantage and strategic pricing.
