The Alabama Port Authority and APM Terminals Mobile have announced a $131 million agreement to construct a new 1,300-foot container berth at the Port of Mobile, enhancing its capacity by 50% to accommodate three ultra-large container vessels simultaneously. This project is part of a multi-phase expansion to maintain Mobile's competitiveness as a container gateway, following the recent deepening of the harbor. The berth construction is set to begin in 2026, with completion expected within 24 months, further improving operational efficiency and connectivity for businesses in the region.
