Tyson Foods will pay $85 million to settle a class action lawsuit accusing it of colluding with other major meatpackers, including JBS, to artificially inflate pork prices. This settlement is the largest in a seven-year price-fixing case, surpassing Smithfield Foods' previous $75 million agreement. The lawsuit claims that the companies manipulated production levels using a tech platform to raise prices from 2009 to 2021, affecting over 80% of the pork market. Tyson's brands include Hillshire Farms and Ball Park Franks, and this settlement follows various other price-fixing allegations against major U.S. meatpackers.
