The U.S. will implement 100% tariffs on ship-to-shore cranes and cargo handling equipment linked to China starting Nov. 9, as part of efforts to reduce dependency on Chinese sources and strengthen supply chain security. The tariffs will apply to cranes made in China or with Chinese components, and to intermodal chassis and parts. The U.S. Trade Representative is also considering up to 150% tariffs on additional equipment. These measures heighten ongoing trade tensions with China, following recent U.S. threats of duties in response to China's export controls on rare earth minerals.
