DHL Express has hired 680 employees to enhance its customs clearance and customer service due to shifts in global trade, particularly a 30% decrease in volume from China and Hong Kong, while exports from Mexico, India, Vietnam, and Malaysia are rising. CEO Greg Hewitt emphasized the importance of customs excellence in navigating a complex trade environment. Additionally, DHL Global Forwarding plans to increase its customs processing capacity by 40% by adding 200 experts, aiming to help importers adjust their strategies. This trend reflects a broader industry investment, with FedEx also anticipating significant trade-related expenses.
